Dr Chris Ngar, Orthopaedic Surgeon

Dr Ngar graduated from medical school in Hong Kong. He was qualified as Orthopaedic Surgeon in Hong Kong in 1995. Before his immigration to New Zealand in 1998, Dr Ngar had been serving in Princess Margaret Hospital of Hong Kong for 10 years. In 2001, Dr Ngar was accepted as a fellow in the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, and became a qualified surgeon in New Zealand.
Dr Ngar served in the Department of Orthopaedics, Waikato Hospital for 3 years. For the following 14 years, he was employed as a full time Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon in Lakes DHB, serving Rotorua and Taupo areas. Apart from good experience in General Orthopaedics and injury care, Dr Ngar is particularly interested in Children Orthopaedics and Foot/Ankle Surgery. He had been in charge of the baby clubfoot service in Rotorua with very satisfactory results.
Dr Ngar has hearty concern for disadvantage groups. He visited Kenya twice as Medical Missions, and had provided multiple voluntary surgical services to remote parts of China.
Dr Ngar wishes to utilize his orthopaedic skills and experiences, together with his language ability of Mandarin, Cantonese and English to serve his fellow Chinese in Auckland.
In 2016, Dr Ngar is collaborating with Windsor Medical Centre (North Shore) and Ormiston Specialist Centre (Flat Bush) in providing Orthopaedic consultations and surgical treatments. Being an ACC Healthcare Provider and a Southern Cross Affiliated Provider, Dr Ngar accepts all referrals from Family Doctors (including clients of other insurance companies).
